Your ASMS Profile
- Add Your ORCID. Adding your ORCID iD to your profile helps ASMS accurately connect your publications to the Bibliometric Project.
- Customize Your Profile. Choose interest groups, access member forums, update your affiliation and contact information, and add a profile photo.
- Demographic Data. An optional, confidential demographic section in your profile helps ASMS understand its membership as a whole. Results are shared each year in the “Face of ASMS” poster.
Career Development
- Career Mentoring Program. Students and postdocs are matched with volunteer mentors from industry, government, and academia for informal one-on-one mock interviews. New mentors at any career stage are always welcome.
- Academia Panel. Free online panels feature faculty from research universities and primarily undergraduate institutions, who share advice on academic job applications and interviews.
Connect with Colleagues
- Interest Groups. Member-led groups cover a wide range of topics, from proteomics and imaging to forensics, environmental applications, and career development. Each group hosts a workshop at the Annual Conference.
- Discussion Groups. A directory lists local mass spectrometry discussion groups across North America. Speaker Travel Awards help local groups and non-PhD-granting institutions host early-career faculty as speakers.
Support and Resources
- Support for Conference Attendance. Stipends help members attend ASMS conferences when child care or other dependent care costs would otherwise make attendance difficult.
- Resources. The Membership, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee shares materials from past conference workshops on building inclusive labs and improving accessibility.
- Advocacy. ASMS supports members who want to advocate for science funding. The page has current calls to action, sample phone scripts, and letter templates for contacting elected officials.
How ASMS Invests in Its Members
- Strategic Initiatives. Members can propose new programs to the ASMS Board, which reviews proposals twice a year. Past initiatives include student and postdoc travel awards, the Emerging Talent webinar series, and the Bibliometric Project.
- ASMS Bibliometric Project. Interactive maps let you explore co-authorship networks and trending research topics among ASMS members.
