Fellows of ASMS

Fellows of ASMS are recognized for their sustained exceptional service to the ASMS community in addition to their contributions to the field of mass spectrometry. Nomination deadline is November 30.

How To Nominate & The Process

GO TO ONLINE AWARDS PLATFORM to start your nomination. You will register (create) an account with our special awards platform and then get started by selecting 'Fellows of ASMS' from the dropdown list of awards.  

  • NOMINATOR initiates the process by completing & submitting a basic form that includes:
    • Nominee name and contact information.
    • Confirmation the nominee has been a member of ASMS for at least 15 years, not necessarily consecutive (though preferred) and not including years as a student member.
    • Letter of nomination in support of the nominee (2 pages max).
  • Once the nominator's portion is submitted, the NOMINEE will receive a link by email to provide the following in their portion of the nomination.
    • Demographic data
    • Enter their ASMS Member ID number
    • Affirm their member history makes them eligible
    • Upload their CV
    • Enter details of their service to ASMS. Nominee will be prompted to list any service on the Board of Directors, Committees (includes Program Committee for the annual conference), Interest Groups, organizer for independent evening workshops & networking sessions, Oral Session chair at the annual conference, Short Course instruction, Small Conference or Fall Workshop organizer.
    • PRO-TIP FOR NOMINEES: If you need help recalling details of your service, we recommend reviewing past Annual Conference program books. The front sections list committee members (see Program Acknowledgements for the Program Committee), interest group coordinators, board members, and session chairs. You can download multiple program books, place them in a single folder, and search all PDFs at once for your name.
  • Enter a Professional Accomplishments Statement (250 words max). This is an opportunity to share the key professional accomplishments that best represent your impact and excellence in the field of mass spectrometry.

Eligibility

  • Nominations for The Fellows of ASMS Program must be submitted by an ASMS member. 
  • Self-nominations are not permitted. 
  • Nominees must have been an ASMS member for at least 15 years, not necessarily consecutive (though preferred) and not including years as a student member.
  • Current members of the ASMS Board or ASMS Fellows Selection Committee are not eligible to be nominees. 
  • Eligible nominations are held for three years

Selection Criteria

Fellow status will be awarded to ASMS members to recognize their achievements and contributions in both of two areas:

  1. sustained exceptional service to the ASMS community, and
  2. research, education, technology, instrumentation, innovative applications, and/or management in the field of mass spectrometry, and

Fellows will be recognized for their achievements and contributions in all venues, including academia, industry, government, and other communities.
