About ASMS

Oral History Project

Oral histories of scientists important to the history of mass spectrometry are being assembled by ASMS in cooperation with the Science History Institute. Most of the interviews for oral histories to-date were conducted by past ASMS Archivist Michael Grayson. The Science History Institute transcribes and emendates the histories and maintains a bound final version.

Alan G. Marshall

A giant in the field of mass spectrometry and a pillar of the ASMS community, Alan served as ASMS President from 2004 to 2006. He received the 1999 Distinguished Contribution in Mass Spectrometry Award as co-inventor of Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry (FT-ICR MS).
