Asilomar Conference Accommodations & Travel

Location. The campus-style setting of Asilomar offers an ideal environment for informal meetings and recreational activities. Asilomar, “the refuge by the sea,” is located at the tip of the Monterey Peninsula overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It occupies 105 acres of secluded forest and dunes that are preserved by the California State Park System as a nature center and historic site.

Lodging at Asilomar. The accommodations at Asilomar are charming and comfortable; however, rooms do not have televisions or telephones. The conference room rates include four nights and all meals (dinner on Friday through lunch on Tuesday). Asilomar provides free wireless Internet access in the main building. Sign-up for housing at Asilomar is included on the conference registration form.  You may choose from the following room types:

Single Room, one person, one bed - $760
Twin Room, two persons, two beds - $440 per person*
Double Room, two persons, one double bed - $440 per person 
*If you are not bringing a guest and wish to be assigned a roommate, please indicate this on your registration form.

Off-Site Participants. Asilomar charges participants who choose to stay off-site a facilty use fee. This fee of $100 permits you to use the Asilomar facilities and includes lunch tickets for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Air Travel to Asilomar. Asilomar is approximately 120 miles from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and about 65 miles from San Jose International Airport ( SJC). Rental car transportation to Asilomar is required from either of these two airports. From the Monterey Airport , taxi fare to Asilomar is approximately $30.

Driving to Asilomar. If you drive to Asilomar from San Francisco or San Jose, make your way to California Highway 1 and go south. After you pass the Monterey exits, take the second Pacific Grove exit (Route 68 West). Travel west on Route 68 for approximately 10 minutes (watch for where Route 68 West turns left). Near the bottom of the hill, turn right on Asilomar Blvd. The main entrance to Asilomar is at the intersection of Asilomar Blvd and Sinex.
