Research Awards in the amount of $35,000 each are presented annually. Two awards are fully sponsored by Thermo Scientific and Waters Corporation. The Research Awards were originated by Robert Finnigan in 1985. The awards are intended to promote academic research in mass spectrometry by young scientists.

Open to academic scientists within four years of joining the tenure track faculty or equivalent in a North American university. Applicants may not have previously received an award under this program. Applicants must be members of ASMS. Application.
Applicants should submit the following no later than November 30
- Research Award Application FILL IN PDF
- One-page fiscal proposal and justification
- List of current research support
- Three-page proposal, including references, figures, etc.
- Curriculum vitae

The awards of $35,000 each will be made to a university in the name of the selected individual and for the researcher’s exclusive use. In accepting this award, the institution will agree not to charge overhead on the funds. Information.
