Poster QR Codes - How it works

The concept is as follows:

  • Submitting author chooses to print special QR Code Sign unique to each poster and post on their poster board.
  • Attendee walks by and scans QR Code Sign with mobile app or any QR scanner (see advantages to scanning with mobile app below).
  • After the conference the submitting author receives a report email from the mobile app platform with a list of all people (name and email) that have scanned their QR Code Sign.

Result is a digital way for attendees to "leave a business card". There will still be Reprint Envelopes posted to each poster board. Since many people don't use business cards anymore and there is at least one or two 'thefts' of reprint envelopes each year we developed this new QR system.

Attendees

If you would like to receive more info on a poster, you can still drop a business card or note into the Reprint Request envelope or you can scan the QR code sign (if author downloads and posts their sign). You may use the scanner built into the mobile app or any generic QR scanner.

Advantage to Scanning with Mobile App While Logged In. If attendee scans the QR Code Sign with mobile app AND they are signed into the mobile app, then name and email are pre-filled on the request more info page. If attendee is not signed into the mobile app, or uses a generic QR scanner, then attendee is prompted to enter their name and email address.

Accept the latest app update to see Poster QR Reader on app home screen.

Poster Presenters (Get Your Unique Sign)

Submitting Authors: How to access and print your QR Code Sign (pdf) to post at your poster board.

  1. Sign into www.abstracts.asms.org and select 'View my drafts and submissions'.
  2. Click title of your poster abstract to open full-page view.
  3. Select blue button for 'Get QR Code' in upper right corner of your abstract.
  4. Download PDF. This is a letter-size (8.5"x11") pdf that you can print and post to your poster board (or email to the presenter).

See step-by-step instruction document.

NOTE: QR Code Sign is only accessible to submitting authors. If you submitted an abstract, but are not the presenter. Download the QR Code Sign and send the pdf to the presenting author to display at the poster board.
