Please use this form to nominate for either the Award for a Distinguished Contribution in Mass Spectrometry or the Biemann Medal. Print and complete the form.
Award for a Distinguished Contribution in Mass Spectrometry
The Award recognizes a focused, singular achievement in or contribution to fundamental or applied mass spectrometry, in contrast to awards that recognize lifetime achievement. The person nominated should have made a contribution that has had a significant impact on the fundamental understanding and/or practice of mass spectrometry. Eligibility is not restricted to members of ASMS. The award is announced at the ASMS Annual Conference with the presentation of a $10,000 cash award and a recognition plaque. Nominations will be held for three years.
The Biemann Medal
The award recognizes a significant achievement in basic or applied mass spectrometry made by an individual early in his or her career. Nominees should be within 15 years of receipt of the Ph.D. at the time they are nominated. The award is presented in honor of Professor Klaus Biemann whose lasting legacy is the training of students and postdoctoral associates over a 40-year period at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Biemann Medal is endowed by contributions from students, postdoctoral associates and friends of Professor Biemann. Eligibility is not restricted to members of ASMS. The award is conferred at the ASMS Annual Conference with the presentation of the Biemann Medal and a cash award of $5,000. Nominations must be renewed each year.
